1:1 Private Tuition
create, explore, understand & enjoy
About me
Hello! My name is Lee and I have been a full-time tutor since 2015, working with up to 30 students each and every week, across the UK, Europe and indeed the rest of the world. I work with 6-16 year olds to improve their comprehension, creative writing, maths and reasoning, focusing on both examination preparation as well as more confidence and skill improvement based learning. My own background is growing up outside of London, going to school at Eton College and on to university at Trinity College Dublin.
Working as a tutor full-time, rather than as some part-time gig, means my experience is unparalleled and my dedication and energy to what I do is unrivalled. Word of mouth has meant my business has spread locally, where I have taught upto six students on a single road in London, to working nationally and internationally, with students across the UK as well as in Zurich, Stockholm, Singapore, Shanghai, Brisbane and California.
Exam Preparation
In terms of exam preparation I have chosen to specialise particularly in entrance tests from 7+ to 11+, ISEB pre-tests, Common Entrance, interviews. I have had great success in helping students gain admission to the top London independent & grammar schools, such as Highgate, City of London and Latymer, as well as preparing and gaining admission to the country's top schools such as Eton and St.Paul's. I specialise particularly in all aspects of English tuition - from creative writing and comprehension to the particular techniques required for the ISEB pre-test - Maths and Verbal Reasoning. My approach, while based on academic excellence, is first and foremost to enable the student to ENJOY the subjects! So often, under the weight of these exams, kids lose sight of what there is to enjoy in the subject. I seek to engage with students and energise them to think for themselves - there is no doubt that this is the way to build confidence and performance in English and Maths that helps my students attain their goals.
Development, confidence and skill
As well as working towards exams, a good part of my work involves support with schoolwork without a focus on exams, but rather with a focus on development. Once again, laying foundations, building confidence and developing from here has been the cornerstone of students finding enjoyment, ease and success with their work from primary through to secondary and GCSE levels.
I am available to speak and discuss your needs anytime, to talk you through the process and help show you how we'll get the most for your child.
Working online
Having taught online regularly for the past seven years, now teaching upto thirty sessions per week, I am pleased to say how brilliantly online tutoring works. The focus from students is remarkable - yes, better than in-person - while progress has been faster and the whole experience more dynamic and enjoyable. Using Zoom and its built-in platforms, we are able to use the screen creatively, to work in a more interesting and engaging way than ever before. It fits into your life and your child's windows with a precision and flexibility that is often just not possible with in-person visits to your house. Do please ask any questions at all on this when getting in touch.
